Reinforced barriers are most commonly used in Noise Control Curtains or Blankets. The barrier is reinforced with high-strength polyester scrim fabric and used to provide extra strength and durability to help prevent tearing when suspended vertically.

Non-reinforced barriers are suitable for non-abusive applications requiring low tensile strength. Typically used in a dry wall and stud construction to improve transmission loss between rooms.
